Getting ready for fall is heartwarming. I like to add some warm colors inside my home. And of course the fastest way is to add flowers. I basically used my Spring into Summer vase and burlap ribbon to give my home a fall make-over.
This project is pretty easy once you have all your materials ready. I’m making a lid for the vase, an interchangeable bow, and finally put it all together.
Let’s get started…
What you’ll need:
- Cardboard
- Flowers (Dollar Tree)
- Eucalyptus (Dollar Tree)
- Twine (Dollar Tree)
- Black & White Buffalo Checker Wired Edge Ribbon 2.5″ (Hobby Lobby)
- Mini Pine Cones (Hobby Lobby)
- Glue Gun / Glue
- Scissors
- Paint / Brush
- Ruler
- Marker/Pen
- Tape
- Hair Rubber Bands (Dollar Tree)
Let’s Make the Vase Lid First
Trace the vase on cardboard. Be sure your cardboard is flexible enough to be easy to cut and bend.
Depending on the ribbon size, use measurement to determine width of outer perimeter for your traced square. In this example it was 7/8 inch both inside and outside of the perimiter of the square.
Cut out center square and all four corners marked with an “x”.
Fold cardboard on orange lines on all four sides, then tape corners together.
Paint your carboard lid. I used black but choose your favorite fall color.
Add twine to the bottom of the lid. This is optional, but it can help with the arranging of the flowers.
Use the hot glue gun to add the ribbon around the lid.
Let’s Make a Bow
Supplies Needed:
– Ribbon
– Glue Gun
– Plastic Hair Bands (Dollar Tree)
– Scissors
– Velcro Dots (Dollar Tree)
Let’s Put it All Together
Supplies Needed:
– Flowers
– Pine cones
– Lid
– Interchangeable bow
I used some of the same flowers I used for my fall wreath. For the flowers, I used Sunflowers, “mini” Sunflowers, Hop Bush in orange and red, red Viburnum and two Eucalyptus bunches.
That’s all!
My fall flower arrangement is now ready for display. What a quick way to warm up my home for the fall.
